Motorpoint Arena Nottingham boxing guide

An arena within the National Ice Centre

The official arena history explicitly includes boxing among the sporting events it has hosted. That is a general statement rather than a list of dates, so this page does not claim any particular bout or promise one. The arena is on Bolero Square and forms part of the National Ice Centre complex.

Earlier names include Nottingham Arena and Capital FM Arena Nottingham. Because the building sits in a complex with an ice centre, a listing may mention more than one facility. Check that the event is for the arena and that the ticket names the correct entrance before you travel.

The Lace Market location

Use the Lace Market and Bolero Square location for your planning, then read the arena’s current directions. The setting is within the city centre, which helps visitors who arrive by train or tram, but event-night crowds and road restrictions can change the best route.

For the return journey, work out how you will leave and when the last practical service runs. Fans who live outside the city should think about a plan B, such as a nearby hotel, in case a late finish makes the planned train impossible.

Check the upcoming fights list for dates before you book travel.

Seating when the arena turns to boxing

Boxing requires a bespoke layout, so ice-hockey or concert plans are not suitable guides. Use the plan attached to the event and note the entrance for your block. Look for warnings about restricted views or additional production areas, which can change the feel of nearby seats.

In a mid-sized arena, a seat further back may still offer a good view of the ring. Choose between the intimacy of closer seats and the overview of higher ones, and avoid paying extra for a label unless the official plan shows a clear advantage.

How to buy officially

The arena’s own website is the starting point, and a promoter’s announcement may give additional details. We do not publish prices or promise availability. Read the terms for fees, delivery and any ticket limits, and keep the confirmation email until after the event.

The boxing ticket guide and cheap boxing tickets guide on the home page give general advice. Browse upcoming events below for fight dates and ticket information. If there are currently no upcoming boxing events listed, check back soon for new fight announcements and ticket updates.

Accessibility

Contact the arena or ticket seller about wheelchair spaces, companion seats and step-free routes. Because boxing changes the room layout, mention the show you plan to attend. Ask about drop-off arrangements and the route from nearby stations.

For all visitors, read the event conditions on bags, ID and re-entry. Mid-sized arenas can have narrow concourses at busy times, so arrive in good time. If you have particular comfort needs, tell the venue early so they can advise.

Value in a mid-sized arena

A smaller arena can make the whole venue feel close to the ring, so a mid-priced seat may be excellent. Compare the options on the official plan, and weigh row height, aisle access and the position of any equipment. Good value is often a clear, comfortable view rather than the closest possible seat.

Consider the entire cost of the night. City-centre travel, food and overnight stays can add up, especially if you are travelling from another region. Setting a total in advance helps you resist rushed decisions.

Planning an evening in Nottingham

Check the official door time and the bill, but remember that running orders can change. If you want the early bouts, arrive in good time. If you want the main event only, allow for delays and make sure you can still catch your transport.

The city has plenty of places to eat, but event nights can make popular spots busy. Book ahead or eat early. Keep your phone charged because ticket entry and return checks both rely on it.

After the final bell

Leaving a compact city venue can feel smoother than leaving a huge stadium, but crowds still gather around entrances and transport links. Decide in advance where you will meet friends and which direction you will walk, so you do not stand in a bottleneck deciding.

If you have travelled a long way, treat the return journey as part of the event. Confirm your last service while the card is still running, and keep a hotel or alternative in mind in case the programme finishes later than expected.

Final checks

Make sure the ticket says Motorpoint Arena Nottingham, not another Motorpoint venue. The brand has been used elsewhere, so the city is your safeguard. Confirm the date, entrance and event title and look for official updates close to the day.

A complex with several facilities

The arena is part of the National Ice Centre complex, so signs, car parks and entrances may serve more than one facility. Look at the ticket and the arena’s guidance to see which door you need and where to queue.

Ice events and boxing shows use the building differently, and the atmosphere can be very distinct. If you are used to one kind of event here, do not assume the layout is the same, and check the plan for your own.
